War Heroes Listed by Use, Benefit and Price

Grepolis has its heroes sorted in alphabetical order. It's a happy mix of war and peace heroes and not very helpful if you are looking for something specific. There are a lot of heroes these days and they often overlap. This post offers various lists that which help deciding on the right one. There are two kinds of heroes, and war heroes with a sword, peace heroes with a scroll in their hands. This post is about war heroes.

You can choose from 19 war heroes that are on offer. Their main benefits are boosts in defense and offence values of units they are with. I will try to make sense in lists that give you a better idea than the alphabet. Boosts are shown from level 1 to 20. The boosts are the same, no matter what speed your world runs on. Coins below show the recruiting costs.

The heroes in the barracks:

Pelops increases offense and defense values of hoplites and chariots by 11 to 30 % for 60 coins.
Agamemnon increases offense and defense values of hoplites and archers by 11 to 30 % for 55 coins.
Hector increases offense and defense values of slingers and swordsmen by 11 to 30 % for 65 coins.
Ajax increases offense and defense values of hoplites by 16.5 to 45 % for 35 coins.
Melousa increases offense and defense values of chariots by 16 to 35 % for 45 coins.
Medea increases offense and defense values of slingers by 16.5 to 45 % for 40 coins.
Telemachos increases offense and defense values of swordsmen by 16.5 to 45 % for 40 coins.
Alexandrios increases offense and defense values of archers by 16 to 35 % for 40 coins.
Lysippe increases offense and defense values of horsemen by 16 to 35 % for 45 coins.
Themistocles increases offense and defense values of horsemen and divine envoys by 11 to 30 % for 60 coins.

Now this is a long list. The main point is that heroes linked to two kinds of units are best because the attacking units get the boost when the hero jogs along with them; the defending units on the other hand get the boost as well while he is running around because the boost is applied to the city.

The heroes in the harbor:

Zuretha increases the offense and defense value of all ships by 5.5 to 15 % for 95 coins.

I don't dare call this a list. Zuretha can escort light ships on an attack mission to give them the boost; while she is out, her bonus still applies to the biremes in the harbor through her link to the city.

The heroes with singular abilities:

Deimos increases offense values of all units by 5.5 to 15 % for 120 coins.
Leonidas increases the defense value of all units by 5.5 to 15 % for 110 coins.
Urephon increases the offense and defense value of all mythical units by 5.5 to 15 % for 95 coins.
Atalanta makes all units move faster by 11 to 30 % for 105 coins.
Helen reduces the time of blue revolt (in revolt worlds) and siege (in conquest worlds) by 5.5 to 15 % for 105 coins.
Perseus reduces the attack values of enemy mythical units by 6 to 25 % for 105 coins.
Jason increases the looting capacity of all units by 22 to 60 % for 45 coins.
Heracles receives 22 to 60 stolen divine favor for every won battle with at least 50 battle points gained for 85 coins.

Special or singular, take your pick. There is a lot to be said about these units. If it says all units in the list, then that is what is meant; there are no exceptions with land, sea, or mythical units. Again, the boost applies to escorting attacks while at the same time applying to the city.

And a very important point to think of: Heroes can walk, swim and fly.
